Catholic Evangelization, light it up!

On July 23, we had the pleasure of Father Eric Bergman giving us a talk on catholic Evangelization.

The words catholic + evangelization are very foreign words to be grouped together.

But as Father pointed out, they should not be. The great missionaries of our Catholic heritage were just that, “Catholic Evangelists.” And in today’s world, we need to be just that.

We are so grateful for Father’s rousing talk which has motivated us to spread the Catholic Fire of Faith.

Defending the Faith

On Saturday, June 18, we had our first guest speaker, Father Pendergraft, FSSP.  He gave a brilliant talk on Defending the Faith in the Modern World. It was so appropriate for what we are all experiencing as we live in today's world.... Same Sex marriage, Transgender Issues, Abortion... Father gave us match and challenged us to really begin to Defend and spread our Catholic Light.

We were challenged at the end of the meeting to help bring someone, a lost sheep, back into the fold. Maybe a fallen away Catholic, or someone not even Catholic at all... we each were asked to do this within 1 year. It is our hope that Juventutem Scranton will help in this and that people will invite others to our meetings.

Also at the meeting, our Officers were introduced. We would like to welcome and thank Caroline Gillenkirk, Jim McWhirter, Brian Palmiter and Mary LaFata into the fold :-)

A New Adventure

In a world where our Catholic Faith is torn apart, it is so difficult to have the support that we need. Juventutem Scranton has been established, and we seek to change all of that for everyone in Northeastern PA.

We had our first meeting today, and it was a great testament to those who are answering the call to sanctification. 20 people from as far as 100 miles away, showed up. Father Zepeda gave a brilliant introduction, encouraging everyone to be active and make Juventutem a success. As he put it, Juventutem Scranton will be like a support group for us all, a way we can lean on and learn from each other as we grow in the faith.

Anyone reading this, if you have yet to come to one of our meetings, please do so! We need you to be a part of this! We are going to take our Catholic Faith and Shine our Light!
